A Morning Service for the 24th of January

Welcome to the Morning Service from Glasgow Cathedral for Sunday the 24th of January,  Epiphany 3.  We hope you enjoy worshiping with us this morning. As today is the anniversary of the birth of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, we are privileged to have contributions from members of Burns Federations from the UK and abroad. There is also a special message from HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay.

As you are aware congregations have not been able to worship together properly since the beginning of the pandemic here in the UK last March. As this situation is likely to continue for some time to come, we are moving toward coming together “virtually”, and as a first step towards this, today’s service will appear as a live broadcast, rather than an uploaded recording as in the past months. It has been pre-recorded, however if the systems we are constructing prove successful, we hope to be able to invite you to take part in an interactive online congregation where you can meet other members of our worldwide Church and join together in once again singing the hymns from the safety of your own homes.

More information will be available here next week.

The hymns this morning include In Heavenly love abiding and God of grace and God of glory.Today’s anthem is Holy is the true light by W Harris The service begins with Walford Davis’s introit God be in my head recorded “virtually” this week by members of our Cathedral Choir under the direction of Andrew Forbes . If you would like to download an order of service it is available here.
