Dear friends,
During the current lockdown situation in Scotland, we have developed a new way of providing worship. This has been driven by our eagerness to continue as a worshiping congregation. The cost of providing services has increased.
Since services are not being held in the Cathedral, there is no opportunity for occasional visitors to contribute to the offering. Members of the Congregation who use the freewill offering envelopes are unable to make their offering to the offering plate. The Kirk Session is aware that the Cathedral is now in a position where expenses are rising and income has reduced. We are grateful to those who have given directly to the treasurer or through the website.
We would like to ask and encourage you to continue giving to the work of the Cathedral. Our Treasurer is preparing a mechanism to facilitate using on-line bank transfer in the form of direct debit or BACS. Being a charity we are in a position to reclaim tax on donations made by UK tax-payers. If you are a UK taxpayer we would ask you to provide your permission to reclaim this tax. There is no extra cost to you. However the UK government will increase your contribution by an additional 25%. This means your £20 becomes £25 to support the Cathedral’s work.
There are two mechanism’s for you to contribute:
- By use of the PayPal donate button on the home page and on the morning service page
- By filling in the form below which will result in our Treasurer being in touch to discuss how to contribute to the work of the Cathedral by bank transfer.
